The 10 commandments show those who are under the law the basics for good living. But what do they mean to us today? What are they telling those who are under the law to do? Did Jesus take them away?
In our English Bibles the word wine occurs about 230 times. And in addition to about a dozen commands to be “sober,” some form of the word “drunk” occurs more than 70 times as in Paul’s list of sins including “envy, murders, drunkenness,” (Gal. 5:21). Words for hard liquor also appear.
God officiated the first marriage by creating one woman for Adam, and in establishing marriage He stated that “a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Gen 2:24). And the nearly balanced birth ratio of boys and girls provides evidence that God designed human beings for monogamy. However, the Bible has many references, negative, neutral, and even positive, to polygamy. Why then do Christians stand almost unanimously against a man simultaneously having two or more wives?
The Deity of Christ: Another Approach
For centuries, as affirmed at the Council of Nicea, Christians have used a wonderful list of Bible verses to demonstrate from God’s Word the deity of Jesus Christ. Here is another avenue, similar to the “Big Picture View” approach in ‘The Plot: An Overview of the Bible.’
Anger towards God can push a person away from him. Has anger come between

Why did Noah curse his grandson Canaan? This boy’s father, Ham, saw Noah’s nakedness, and as a result, Noah cursed Canaan, who became the patriarch of Israel’s enemies, the Canaanites. The story seems capricious on the surface, in contrast to so much reasonable history in Genesis. Let’s take another look at what happened.
